Stealing the flower show last week, in my opinion, were the white crabapples. I only photographed the one in my aunt's chicken yard but they were blooming all over town with a prominence and profusion that I hadn't remembered from past years:
Tulips were still outstanding. This is an untouched photo with some backlighting from the afternoon sun:
Some fancy petals with one outlier:
These tulips are growing up around a misplaced scythe, lit with the golden light of the late afternoon:
The dogwoods are blooming white along with the crabs, and juxtapose strikingly with the quickly emerging foliage of the Norway and other bronzed maples, and in this picture, a copper beech:
And finally, the common lilac, not so showy but oh so fragrant:
